Welcome to
The Village Chabad

A boutique Jewish community dedicated to Jewish life in Portola Valley and Woodside. It offers a place for people to engage with Jewish life in ways that feel personal and thoughtful—rooted in tradition and brought into contemporary life, woven into the fabric of the local community.

The mission of The Village Chabad is to build Jewish life one person at a time—supporting individual spiritual growth through personal relationships and creating a strong, vibrant Jewish community in Portola Valley and Woodside.

What We Do

We provide various services to the local Jewish community, with a focus on educational programs ranging from Preschool through Hebrew School to advanced Jewish learning classes for adults. We also host programs for children, women, professionals and families, as well as Shabbat and Holiday meals, events, synagogue services.

Ultimately, we are here to help Portola Valley & Woodside residents with anything you might need, be it physical or spiritual. We’d love to hear what your definition of a Jewish community is and work with you to bring that vision to life.

Guiding Vision

The work of The Village Chabad is inspired by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, the Rebbe, whose leadership championed the dignity of every individual. He articulated a vision of Jewish life grounded in moral responsibility and education, and in the conviction that Jewish values must be lived and expressed in the world. His leadership was defined by a long view—investing in people, ideas, and institutions that could sustain Jewish life across generations.

Around the world and across cultures, Chabad exists as one of the most broadly engaged Jewish networks in history. Centered on the principle that every person’s heritage and identity are worth nurturing, Chabad serves cities, towns, and university campuses on every continent, bringing Jewish life into everyday life and into places where community once was distant or absent. Chabad centers serve as hubs of connection, learning, and Jewish celebration.

Although rooted in Jewish engagement, this global network likewise reflects a broader belief in the value of dignity and service to people at all stages of life. Chabad institutions draw from a legacy that treats Jewish thought as a guide for living, shaping action, responsibility, and human connection in everyday life. In this way, the broader movement’s work resonates beyond specific affiliation, touching Jews and non-Jews alike with examples of care, curiosity, and communal responsibility.
